Glentaisie Necklace

Glentaisie is one of the nine Glens of Antrim in Northern Ireland. According to the traditional storytellers, Glentaisie was named after Princess Taisie, the daughter of King Dorm of Rathlin Island, renowned for her beauty.

With this piece, I wanted to make something substantial that combined fabrication and chain techniques. The necklace is made of sterling Viking knit chain and joined to the center stone, a Wedgewood agate from Oregon cut by a gentleman in Missouri, by chainmaille in sterling twisted and plain rings. The chandelier drops are faceted smoky quartz. From the top of the center piece chain to the bottom of the lowest chandelier drop is 3-3/8". The center stone alone is 5/8" x 1-7/8". Overall length is 17" with a 2-1/2" extender chain. This piece is a pleasure to wear and will be noticed!
